It was a pleasure to stay with Carol and Roy. The location of the house was just amazing, the view kept us mesmerized and the space was well organised with a great big kitchen, three comfortable rooms and bathrooms, and a deck that is great for a braai and wine. Carol went beyond expectations in making us feel comfortable, she even went out looking for Easter eggs for our kids. We definitely will be back again.
Things we supply:
Some wood, matches, firelights to get you going for a fire or braai
Salt pepper and essential condiments, cooking oil.
Some tea / coffee / sugar.
A full kitchen with glasses, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Ice in the freezer
All required bedding and towels, with complimentary soaps and shampoo
Some board games, cards and books
The beds can be made up as singles or king size, so please let us know the sleeping arrangements.
Under most circumstances, guests are invited to leave the dishes as they are when they depart, so no longer the self-catering exit cleaning dread
Things to bring:
Costume, Hats and sunscreen for summers
Windbreaker and jackets, and possibly even a raincoat (clambering around the rocks on a rough winters day with the sea birds swooping overhead with salty spray from the crashing waves is a memorable thing to do)
Walking shoes and sunglasses
Firewood and briquettes for indoor fire and braai as - I supply a basket of wood but if you want fires I'd recommend you bring along more wood.
Books, laptops and phone chargers
Wine and have to say G&T goes very well with the sunsets on the deck
Binoculars (seal, dolphins and whales are all seen from upstairs), Camera
Torch – for looking for Otters (regularly seen at night) and doing starlit walks (its safe and being able to do night time walks is a novelty these days).
We supply some tea and coffee, with coffee makers, but being without your favourite beverage could be a crisis.
We had a wonderful stay at Carol's place. The house and the view are amazing, the location is unmatched, and you can't be closer to the sea! The town and the surrounding seashore are lovely and we had a nice walk starting from the house. Our only regret is to have arrived 15 minutes too late to really enjoy the sunset from the terrace. Carol and Roy were very friendly and welcoming hosts. We spent one week in Cape Town area and this was definitely our best experience. Enjoy!
